Commodore force Game 3
May 3, 2025
PANAMA CITY, FL-The Gulf Coast Commodores came out ready to fight and dominated Miami Dade in Game 2, winning 12–0 in 7 innings after a tough loss in Game 1 on Friday.
This was a must-win game, and the Commodores brought the heat!
Freshman pitcher Jordan Martinez was on fire today! He threw a complete game shutout. He pitched all seven innings, gave up just six hits, and struck out six batters. It was his third complete game and first shutout of the season.
The action started in the 2nd inning when Alex McCranie hit a line drive single. A few batters later, Carrington Aaron crushed a hit to left field, scoring McCranie and giving the Commodores the lead 1-0.
In the 6th, hits from Prosek and McCranie, a wild pitch, and a lot of walks helped the Commodores load the bases and bring in more runs. Miami Dade's pitchers struggled find the strike zone, allowing the Commodores to extend their lead to 4-0.
In the top of the 7th inning, Miami Dade couldn't catch a break. Jackson McKenzie smashed a double to right field, bringing home Bray Touchstone, who had reached base after an error by the third baseman. The pitcher walked Brody Langlotz, then was called for a balk, which allowed McKenzie to score. Drew Prosek moved into scoring position and Alex McCranie advanced to second. Another walk to Colton Masse loaded the bases. Then Carrington Aaron hit a grounder, and the Sharks got their first out by throwing home to stop Prosek from scoring. Collin Lindsey walked to load them up again, and Andrew Johnson hit a sharp ground ball to right field. Aaron was thrown out at home, but the rally wasn't over yet. With two outs, Bray Touchstone came up and crushed a three-run homer over the left field fence, scoring Lindsey and Johnson. The Commodores ended the inning leading 12–0 heading into the bottom of the 7th.
Martinez returned to the mound in the bottom of the 7th and shut down the Sharks one last time. With that, the Commodores took the win and forced a Game 3.
