Bryant & Stratton College softball adds two more region wins
Bobcats trounce Hawks in game one; rally in seventh inning of game two to complete sweep
PALATINE, Ill. — Following its wins over Black Hawk, Bryant & Stratton College softball traveled down to Illinois to face the Harper College Hawks for the first time in program history.
Game 1: Bryant & Stratton 11, Harper College 1
Bryant & Stratton lit up the scoreboard in the top of the first inning after a Joscelyn Bennett double brought in two runs. Kayla Roidt also singled to bring in a run.
Holly Lowenberg stepped in the circle first for Bryant & Stratton. She allowed one hit and zero runs over three innings. She struck out five and walked none. Delilah Abundiz appeared in relief for the Bobcats, where she walked two and gave up two hits.
The Bobcats poured on the offense at the top of the fifth and led 11-0 heading into the fifth inning. The Hawks were able to get one run across, but the game ended in the fifth with the Bobcats leading by 10.
Notes:
- Bryant & Stratton recorded 14 hits
- Bennett led the Bobcats with three RBIs
- Lily Fairfield, Bennett, Olivia Fietz, and Sophia Santiago each collected two hits
Game 2: Bryant & Stratton 6, Harper College 2
Bryant & Stratton WI opened the scoring in the first after a Fietz single brought in Gia Cobert, who singled and reached second on an error. Harper tied the game in the second inning, but the Bobcats jumped back in front after Grace Leitheiser scored on an error by Harper's catcher.
The Hawks tied the game in the fifth inning following a pair of errors by Bryant & Stratton, but that's all the Hawks could muster.
Bryant & Stratton put the game on ice in the seventh inning following hits by Fairfield, Cobert, Fietz, and Jenna Beaudin.
Kylie Stark started in the circle for the Bobcats and the freshman pitcher allowed two hits and two runs (zero earned) over four innings. She struck out six batters and walked two. Lowenberg tossed three innings of scoreless softball in relief. She struck out five in three innings of work.
Notes:
- Fietz drove in two runs and went 3-for-4.
- Fairfield and Cobert each collected multiple hits at the top of the lineup

Next Up: The Bobcats will be heading back to Illinois for a doubleheader against Joliet Junior College on April 10.
