CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Bryant & Stratton College (WI) women's basketball headed to Iowa for the Kirkwood Classic following an emotional win over Gogebic Community College. The Bobcats' first game of the weekend event came against John Wood Community College.

The Blazers jumped out to 10-0 leading the first quarter and the first Bobcat bucket didn't come until the 2:20 mark, courtesy of a free throw by Addie Miller. The Bobcats would manage just six points in the first quarter and they shot 7.7 percent from the field in the second quarter and found themselves in an 18-point hole at halftime.

It was a different story for the Bobcats in the second half, offensively. They shot 46.2 percent from the field in the second half and scored 44 points.  

Trishena Brown led all players with 21 points. She also grabbed six rebounds and three assists. Mia Ott added 11 points and three assists.

Bryant & Stratton College faced Kirkwood, the No. 1 team in the country, in its second game of the Kirkwood Classic. 

Early in the first quarter, the Bobcats jumped out to a 6-3 lead, but Kirkwood found its offensive groove and went on an 18-0 run. Bryant & Stratton trailed 30-9 after the first quarter. The shots kept falling for the Eagles, and they took a 29-point lead to halftime.

Kirkwood kept up the pressure in the second half and with 3:15 remaining in the game, the Bobcats trailed 73-33. The contest ended with a Kirkwood victory.

Trishena Brown led all players with 12 points but recorded a double-double with 10 rebounds. She also had five assists.

Markeila Bolds was Bryant & Stratton's second-leading scorer with 10 points.
