The Bryant and Stratton Lady Bobcats competed in two nonconference games this past weekend in the CCBC Essex Mixer: On day one, they faced the Union College (NJ) Owls, and on day two, they faced the hosting CCBC Essex Knights.
The Lady Bobcats suffered the first loss to the Owls in a challenging matchup, 73-88. The Bobcats struggled to keep pace with the high-scoring Union team, particularly in the second and fourth quarters, where they were outscored 39-57. The Bobcats offense had moments of success, particularly from Hailey Harris, who scored 17 points on 5-of-14 shooting from beyond the arc, and Rakyla Jones, who contributed 14 points and five rebounds. However, defensive lapses allowed Union to capitalize on fast breaks and second-chance opportunities, with the Owls shooting 53.8% from the field.
Rakyla Jones earned her 3rd double-double of the season, and Shakkera Reddicks earned her 6th double-double of the season, finishing with 12 points and 13 rebounds.
The Lady Bobcats struggled in a tough 63-92 loss against a high-powered Knights team.
They fell behind early, trailing 35-48 at halftime, as their defense couldn't contain the fast-paced offense of the Knights. Despite the deficit, the team showed resilience, with Shakerra Reddicks leading the way with 22 points and 16 rebounds and Rakyla Jones adding 10 points and 11 rebounds. However, the Bobcats struggled with turnovers and missed shots, shooting just 28.6% from the field and 13.3% from beyond the arc leading to the loss.
Shakerra Reddicks tallied her 7th double-double of the season, and Rakyla Jones tallied her 4th double-double of the season.
