- Final Score: #4 Carroll Lynx 0 – #5 Garrett College Lakers 4
- Records: Carroll 4-7-1 | Garrett 6-7-3
- Location: Westminster, MD – Carroll Community College
- The Short Story: The Carroll Lynx were unable to overcome an in-form Garrett Lakers team as the Lynx were knocked out of the Region 20 playoffs in the quarterfinals, marking the end of their first season for the program.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- As was the case in the regular season battle between the two teams, Garrett scored in the first couple of minutes to set the tone of an action packed game.
- Garrett doubled their lead a few minutes later and added a third in the 26th minute to take control of the game early.
- The Lynx found their footing in the game after that, controlling possession and chances for the rest of the first half with Haley Greenwade having multiple great chances denied while Saige Coufal-Shifflet had a header go just wide of the net. Carroll did have a prime opportunity in the last minute of the first half as a foul just outside of the 18 yard box allowed Talula Castanzo a chance to take a free kick that went just high of the net.
- The Lynx kept up the pressure in the second half, out shooting the Lakers 13-1 in the final 45 minutes. Sadly for the Lynx, none of those 13 shots found the back of the net while the one shot from Garrett made it a 4-0 game in favor of the Lakers.
GAME NOTES
- Greenwade led the way with seven shots while Emma O'Donnell, Molly Smith, Coufal-Shifflet, and Castanzo all had two shots each.
- Brooke Turner made just one save in the game as the defensive line of the Lynx held Garrett to just five shots on goal for the contest.
- The Lynx honored their outgoing sophomores after the game was over as Greenwade and E. O'Donnell graduate out of Carroll.
UP NEXT
- The Lynx will look to rebuild after their historic first season, as they exceeded every expectation. With 14 freshmen on the roster, the Carroll Lynx appear poised for a strong second season.
