Bucs Rally Falls Short in 91-83 Loss
Wadley, AL- Shelton State Men's Basketball's rabid 2nd half rally fell short in a 91-83 loss to the Southern Union Bison.
The Bucs were led by Kuron Coleman with 23 points behind 7 trey balls. Troy Dunn posted 19 while Nazir Griffin added 16.
The 1st half was back and forth until the Bison jumped out to a 7-point advantage with 7 minutes to play. The Bison were led by Isaiah Dennis who scored 25 of his game high 39 in the first 20 minutes. The Bison were able to expand the lead to 14 going into the break.
The 2nd half saw the Bucs claw back into the contest behind five 3 pointers from Kuron Coleman. Troy Dunn chipped in 12 in the half to help the Bucs draw within 4 with 2 minutes to play. After a Hasani Rivera tip-in, the Bucs would cut the lead to 3. The game would come down to the final possession as Dennis was able to hit a floater while being fouled with just 26 seconds to play. Dennis would hit the free throw, pushing the Bison lead to 6, and thwarting the Bucs' comeback attempt.
The Bucs return to action on Thursday, January 30th as they host the Bishop State Wildcats beginning at 7:30 PM.
