Dothan, AL- The Shelton State softball team moved to 3-3 overall after going 1-3 in the Visit Dothan Invitational.
The Lady Bucs dropped their 1st game to #7 Florida Southwestern 9-4 but were able to bounce back and defeat Georgia Military 10-3 to end Day 1. Day 2 saw the Lady Bucs fall to Miami Dade 10-2 and Chipola 7-2.
Sophomore Alana Spann led the Lady Bucs, hitting .500 (8-16) over the 4-game stretch, scoring a team high 4 runs. Layla Bradshaw (4) and Natalie Liner (3) added 7 RBI's while Bradshaw also scored 3 runs. Chloe Mitchell added 5 hits in 11 plate appearances.
Victoria Hagemann threw 12 innings over 2 days for the Lady Bucs striking out 9 while only allowing 4 earned runs. Hagemann went the distance in the win over Georgia Military striking out 5 Bulldogs while only allowing 5 hits. Lexi Darnell added 5 and 2/3 innings giving up 2 earned runs on 5 hits. The Lady Bucs were plagued by errors throughout their time in Dothan, giving up 10 unearned runs on 10 errors.
The Lady Bucs return to action on Tuesday, February 11, as they travel to Alexander City to take on Central Alabama.
