In a spirited NJCAA women's basketball contest, Muskegon Community College overcame Delta College with a decisive 80-64 victory. The game showcased dynamic performances from both teams, but Muskegon's consistency and offensive firepower ultimately secured their win.

First Half Highlights

The game opened with both teams battling to establish dominance. Muskegon outscored Delta 21-16 in the first quarter, with TyVeonna Davis setting the pace early with her precise shooting. The second quarter saw similar results, as Delta struggled to close the gap, trailing 38-32 at halftime.

Delta's Hailee Jefferson shined in the first half, contributing key points in the paint and grabbing crucial rebounds. However, Muskegon's defense and rebounding edge, led by Kennedy Adams and Remi Sponseller, limited Delta's scoring opportunities.

Muskegon Pulls Away

In the third quarter, Muskegon extended their lead with a 23-point effort, driven by Davis's dominant performance. She finished the game with an impressive 34 points, including four three-pointers, and added seven rebounds to her stat line. Anna Lundquist complemented Davis's efforts with 21 points and eight rebounds, providing Muskegon with a solid inside-out attack.

Delta struggled offensively in the third and fourth quarters, despite strong contributions from Jefferson, who tallied 16 points and nine rebounds, and Carah McCrum, who added 12 points. The team's shooting woes—31.6% from the field—proved to be a critical factor in their inability to mount a comeback.

Bench and Team Efforts

Muskegon's depth was another key to their victory. Reserves like Molli Schultz and Kennah Vermerris added valuable minutes, while the team collectively dominated the boards with 47 total rebounds compared to Delta's 41.

Delta's bench also made notable contributions, with Lexi Ringley scoring eight points and Kayla Howell adding eight more while pulling down seven rebounds. However, turnovers plagued the home team, with Delta committing 20 compared to Muskegon's 14.
