Lady Jayhawks get huge road win
MCC defeats host Delta 80-64.
The Muskegon Jayhawks traveled over to Delta College Wednesday afternoon to play the Pinoneers in their third conference game of the season.
The Jayhawks had a solid first quarter with a strong offense right off the bat. Going into the second quarter, the Lady Jays struggled to solidify a cohesive defense after scoring leaving the Pioneers room to shrink the lead to only six points at halftime. In the second half, the Lady Jays found the flow they always do to keep intensity both offensively and defensively to lead them to a win over Delta of 80-64.
Leading the Jayhawks was Tyvi Davis (#23) with 34 points, 7 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 assists. Anna Lundquist (#30) with 21 points and 8 rebounds. And Remi Sponseller (#12) with 10 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists.
Head Coach Jason Cooper stated after the game, "I am very excited with the tough road win tonight. Delta is a good team and we haven't won there in three years." He continued with what exactly helped the team get the dub, "The great offensive game from Tyvi and Anna carried us down the stretch. The team rebounding and defense got us through the tough times."
The Lady Jays travel north of the bridge this weekend to play Bay College on Saturday, January 18th, @1:00.
