Bucs Fall After Late Cardinal Rally
Gadsden, AL- The Shelton State Men's Basketball team fell on the road to the Gadsden State Cardinals 86-82.
The Bucs were led by Nazir Griffin who posted 24 points while Troy Dunn and Hasani Rivera both added 14. Kuron Coleman scored 13 points. Tramarian Huguley pulled down 7 rebounds. The Bucs shot 59% (32-54) from the field, 50% (6-12) from 3-point range, and 91% (10-11) from the charity stripe.
The 1st half saw the Bucs jump out to a 14-6 lead and never trail as Nazir Griffin exploded for 20 points in the first 20 minutes. The Cardinals were able to cut the lead to 3 (42-39) going into the break.
The 2nd half was back and forth, and the Bucs held the lead for the first 16 minutes of the final frame, but the Cardinals were able to claw their way in front for the first time with just 4 minutes remaining. The Bucs had multiple costly turnovers down the stretch leading to crucial buckets for Gadsden State.
The Bucs return to action on Monday, January 27th, as they travel to Southern Union.
