Cold Streak Dooms Bucs in Loss to Wallace State
Hanceville, AL- The Shelton State Men's basketball team fell 90-76 to the Wallace State Lions on Thursday night.
The Bucs were led by Kuron Coleman who posted 20 points on 50% shooting (8-16).
Tramarian Huguley scored a season high 17 points and pulled down 14 rebounds. Troy Dunn and Hasani Rivera both added 10 and Rivera grabbed 7 rebounds. The Lions were led by Kami Young who drained 5 of the Lions 13 made 3's and went 12-12 from the charity stripe to finish with 31 points.
The Lions started the game with 12 of their first 15 points coming from beyond the arc, but the Bucs clawed back into the game behind a combined 21 points from Coleman and Huguley and entered halftime trailing by only 2 (46-44) despite shooting 2-8 from the free throw line.
The 2nd half was all Lions as they took advantage of a nearly 5 minute cold streak by the Bucs to build a 20-point advantage with 8 minutes to play. The Bucs did not go quietly as they trimmed the lead to 9 with just 4 minutes to play but could not complete the comeback. The Bucs move to 2-1 in ACCC play.
The Bucs return to action on Monday, January 20th as they host the Calhoun Warhawks beginning at 7:30 PM.
