Volleyball Sweeps Tri-Match, Climbs to #14 National Ranking
Poughkeepsie, NY- The Bergen Community College women's volleyball team continues its impressive season, clinching back-to-back wins over Orange County Community College and Dutchess Community College in a tri-match this past weekend. With these victories, Bergen not only extended its winning streak but also secured a #14 national ranking, marking a new high for the Bulldogs this season.
In the first match against Orange County, Bergen delivered a commanding performance, sweeping the match with scores of 25-16, 25-17, and 25-17. Angelina Buhler led the Bulldogs' attack with 11 kills and a .171 hitting percentage, while Gyanna Hernandez added 6 kills and 3 aces. Setter Ariana Garo orchestrated the offense, contributing 10 assists and 3 aces, and the team finished with a total of 12 service aces, showcasing their well-rounded play both offensively and defensively.
In the second match, Bergen faced Dutchess Community College and maintained their momentum, sweeping them in straight sets as well (25-15, 25-15, 25-17). Buhler once again spearheaded the offense with 13 kills and a strong .269 hitting percentage, while Hernandez and Addy Matos contributed key kills and defensive plays. Garo continued to excel as the team's primary setter with an additional 10 assists, and Jenelly Jimenez anchored the back row with a team-high 16 digs
