The No. 17 Bryant & Stratton Bobcats had trouble keeping up with Gaston College Rhinos in an 11-1 loss on Thursday.
The Rhinos got on the board in the first inning with a double, scoring one run, and extended their early lead with three runs in the bottom of the second thanks to two RBI singles. Anaya Jones went 1-for-2 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in while Kiara Selby, Madison Watkins, and Jones each collected one hit. Emma Cardenas stepped in the circle first for the Bobcats surrendering seven hits and seven runs over three and one-third innings, striking out none and walking two.
The Gaston College Rhinos defeated the No. 17 Bryant & Stratton College Bobcats 18-4 on Thursday thanks in part to 15 runs in the fourth inning.
The Rhinos got on the board in the first inning after a ground out scored one run. They added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after another ground out and singled down the left field line, each scoring one run. The Bobcats made the score 4-3 in the top of the fourth after Kallie McNeely was induced to hit into a fielder's choice, but two runs scored, Natalie Brown drew a walk, scoring one run, and Madison Watkins drew a walk, scoring one run. The Rhinos flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fourth, scoring 15 runs on 11 hits to take the lead, 18-4. The biggest blow in the inning was a wild pitch that drove in two. Sophia Elderbaum stepped in the circle first for the Bobcats and allowed five hits and seven runs (five earned) over three innings, striking out none and walking one. McNeely led the Bobcats with two runs batted in. Tanisha Halvorson led the team with one hit in three at bats. Berry Rosychuk paced with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing six walks for the game and stole three bases in the game while also turning one double play in the game.

The Bobcats scored six runs on two hits in the top of the fifth inning, an error scored two runs, Anaya Jones singled, scoring one run, and Brenna Meagher doubled, scoring three runs. Selby, Rosychuk, and Tanisha Halvorson each collected two hits for the Bobcats. Selby and Meagher each drove in three runs and the team had patience at the plate, collecting eight walks for the game.
