Bucs Fall to Lions in Scooba
Scooba, MS- The Shelton State Men's Basketball team fell to the East Mississippi Lions 81-67 in the Lions home opener.
Nazir Griifin led the Bucs with 18 points followed by Kuron Coleman who posted 13 behind 3 trey balls. Hasani Rivera scored 11 and fell just 1 rebound shy of a double-double. The Lions were led by Deandre Lewis who scored a game high 19 points and Jermourhiyum Anderson who posted 17 points.
The first half saw the Lions jump out a 44-27 lead after they ended the half with 4 consecutive 3-pointers. The Lions had 6 players who scored 5 or more points in the opening frame compared to just 2 for the Bucs (Nazir Griffin and Kuron Coleman).
In the second half, the Lions increased their lead behind a 12-point outburst by Deandre Lewis. Nazir Griifin posted 10 in the half, but the Bucs could not cut into the deficit.
The Bucs return to action on Thursday, November 14th, as they travel to Decatur, Mississippi to take on the East Central Community College Warriors.
