The Muskegon Community College Jayhawks handled Cornerstone University JV in their season opener at home, 91-67. Despite early turnovers in the 1st half, the Jayhawks could not be stopped offensively and were extremely effective inside the painted area. The Jayhawks finished with 46 points in the paint, 26 more than Cornerstone JV's paint total. Muskegon benefitted from an array of different scorers, with four of their five starters scoring more than ten points. Sophomore Kevon Washington led the charge for the Jayhawks totaling 21 points. Sophomore Will Chye poured in 16 points and six rebounds, and Sophomore guard Darius Williams did damage on both sides of the ball finishing with 15 points, four rebounds, six assists, two steals and one block in only 25 minutes of play. The commanding win is the start that the Jayhawks were hoping for, and they will hope to bring the same dominance in their next matchup at 7:00 PM on Friday, November 8th against Grace Christian University JV at home.
