Lakehawk Baseball Sweeps CCBC Catonsville

LEESBURG, Fla. (Baseball) – Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) baseball hosted CCBC Catonsville for a double header on Saturday. The Lakehawks defeated the Cardinals 11-4 and 5-0.

Game 1 – CCBC Catonsville 4, Lake-Sumter 11

The Cardinals took a three-run lead on three hits in the top of the first inning. The Lakehawks put two runs on the board in the bottom half of the frame before a rally in the second put nine runs up.

Tad Brooks went 2-for-3 in with three RBIs, one walk, and one run scored including a solo homerun.

Mason Blackburn blasted his second grand slam of the season. He recorded five RBIs and scored one run.  

Redshirt sophomore Max Windham recorded the win on the mound with 6.0 innings pitched improving to 2-1 on the season. Windham allowed four runs on five hits with six strikeouts.

Redshirt sophomore Bryan Burtoft took the mound in the top of the seventh to toss a perfect three-out inning to close out the game.

Game 2 – CCBC Catonsville 0, Lake-Sumter 5

Ryan Villaman went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and one run scored. Brady Byers and Camden Williamson recorded two hits each.

Freshman Jack Johnson recorded the win on the mound for game two with 6.0 innings pitched improving to 3-1 on the season. He allowed just two hits while fanning four.

Elliot Sande took the mound in the seventh to close out the game. He allowed just one hit and recorded one strikeout.

With a pair of wins over the Cardinals, the Lakehawks improve to 11-4 on the season headed into confernce play.

Lakehawk baseball will open Sun-Lakes Conference play at home on Friday, Feb. 21 against Florida State College at Jacksonville at 1:00 p.m.
