
(February 1, 2025) Mena, Arkansas - Coming off a series win last weekend at North Central Texas, the Bucks returned for their home opener against ASU Three Rivers. Last season, the Bucks and Eagles split at Union Bank Field. The Bucks and Eagles will conclude their 4-game series on Sunday in Malvern.
Game One
The first game of the four game series was very ugly, defensively for the Bucks. The men committed 5 errors that lead to 3 unearned run for the Eagles. The runs were all the Eagles needed to win 3-1.
The Bucks only recorded 4 hits in the contest with 3 of the hits being doubles. The loan run came in the bottom of the fifth inning on a Diego Archila (Baton Rouge, LA) RBI double.
On the mound, the men recorded 8 strikeouts and only gave up 4 hits. However, the Bucks allowed 8 free bases due to walks and hit-by-pitches.
Ethan Diaz (1-1) got the loss in 3.0 innings of work, giving up 3 unearned runs with 4 strikeouts.
Game Two
Game Two went much different than the first game. The Bucks scored in every inning and won 11-1 in five innings over ASU Three Rivers. The men got 7 hits, including doubles by Diego Archila and Ian Smith (Bismarck, AR). Dylan Gibson (Springdale, AR) led the Bucks with 3 RBIs, while Jack Bilski drove in 2 runs. On the base paths, the Bucks stole 8 bases and took advantage of 7 wild pitches and 3 passed balls in the win.
Riley Nicholson (Conway, AR) got the start on the mound and lasted 3.0 innings. Nicholson (1-0) got the win, while only giving up a run on 2 hits. Hayden McCarley (Dewitt, AR) and Brooks Burleson (Cave Springs, AR) each came on and pitched an inning.
The Bucks will now travel to Malvern on Sunday for a doubleheader against ASU Three Rivers. First pitch is scheduled for 12 pm.
