Jayhawks End Regular Season Strong

The Muskegon Community College Jayhawks concluded their regular season by beating North Central Michigan College (NCMC) 83-57 in a conference matchup that celebrated Muskegon's sophomores Tuesday night. Sophomores Will Chye, Darius Williams, Joe Russau, Isaac DeHart, Kevon Washington, and Andrew Spyke were celebrated pregame for their accomplishments and additions to the long-standing Muskegon basketball program. The Jayhawks narrowly outscored NCMC in the first half, but an explosive 50-point output from the Muskegon offense in the second half moved the Jayhawks away from their opposition for good. The Jayhawks featured four double-digit scorers, led by sophomore guard Will Chye. Chye finished with 24 points and five rebounds. Sophomore forward Joe Russau contributed 19 points and nine rebounds. Sophomore guard Darius Williams added 11 points, five assists and four steals. The Jayhawks finish their season with a 17-11 overall record, and a 10-4 conference record that give Muskegon a third-place finish in the conference. The third-place finish gives the Jayhawks a familiar opponent for the first round of playoffs-Montcalm Community College. Muskegon will play Montcalm next Tuesday, March 4th at Bartels-Rhode Gymnasium in a win or go home scenario.
