The College of Central Florida Patriots didn't dominate the weekend like they did on opening weekend, but still found ways to stay undefeated after a pair of walk-off wins.
On Friday the Patriots hosted the South Florida State College Panthers. Both teams entered the contest undefeated.
The Pats never trailed in the game, but did not earn the win until Logan Chapman walked with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth to score Dawson Harman and give CF a 13-12 walk-off win. Harman continued his hot start to the season with his fourth and fifth home runs, also scoring four runs with four RBI. Bruno Schafer and Chapman had three hits each while Miles Curley added a two-run double. The high scoring affair included 25 runs, 31 hits, and 8 errors combined from both teams. The win improved CF to 5-0 and dropped the Panthers to 5-1.
Jay Jung (1-0) pitched the final 1.1 innings to earn the win, allowing only one hit, no runs, with one strikeout.
The Patriots found themselves trailing for most of Saturday's game against the TNXL Academy Ducks. CF was finally able to pull even with the Ducks in the bottom of the eighth with two outs when Jacob McKenzie hit a towering two-run home run.
The Ducks responded quickly by plating a couple of runs in the top of the ninth inning to take a 6-4 lead.
With a little help from the Ducks, the Patriots scored three times in the bottom of the ninth without registering a hit. A hit batter, an error, two walks, and three wild pitches did in the Ducks and handed the Patriots a 7-6 walk-off win.
Peyton Fall started on the mound for the Pats going four innings with four hits, two runs, one walk, and five strikeouts. Cory Geinzer followed Fall with 3.1 innings pitched allowing no hits, a run and striking out five duck batters. Curley (2-0) earned the win in relief getting the final two outs in the ninth.
The Patriots currently sit at 6-0 on the season and will hit the road on Tuesday traveling to Rollins College and Friday at South Florida State College. CF's next home games will be Saturday, February 8th with two games at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM vs. South Georgia State College.
