Lakehawk Baseball Unstoppable Against NLAA Lions
LEESBURG, Fla. (Baseball) – Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) baseball hosted NLAA Luquillo traveling from Puerto Rico on Tuesday afternoon for a single game. Outhitting the Lions 22 hits to 2, the Lakehawks recorded their eighth straight win 27-0.
The entire offensive lineup for the Lakehawks reached the bases safely against the Lions.
Matthew Dumas, Eli Thurmond, Osjun Rivas, Tanner Reid, Tad Brooks, Edwin Melendez, Christian Cantwell, and Ean Gimson all had multi-hit days.
Melendez hit his second homerun of the season and went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, four runs scored, and one walk.
Cantwell joined Melendez blasting his first homerun of the season in grand slam form. For the game, he went 2-for-2 with four RBIs.
Pitching efforts from Riley Fitzgerald, Fabian Romero, Ty Floyd, Bryan Burtoft, Chase Booth, Ricky O'Dette, and Ethon Tesmer helped the Lakehawks to the shutout victory. The pitching staff accounted for a combined 15 strikeouts in 23 batters faced.
The Lakehawks improve to a 12-4 overall record on the season.

Lakehawk baseball will be back in action at home on Friday, Feb. 21 to open Sun-Lakes Conference play with Florida State College at Jacksonville at 1:00 p.m.
