
Lady Owls Secure 7th Straight Victory
The Prince George's Community College women's basketball team continued their hot start to the season, defeating Montgomery College 83-67 on the road Wednesday night. The win improves the Owls record to a perfect 7-0 on the year while Montgomery fell to 7-3.
After a low scoring first quarter, Prince George's erupted for 30 points in the second to head into halftime with a 42-34 lead. The Owls shot 65% (11/17) from the floor in the second period which included a 67% (4/6) mark from deep. Tamia Washington led the team in scoring at the break, putting in all 9 of her first half points during the second period while adding 5 assists to keep the Owls offense hot.
Montgomery was able to keep pace with the Owls in the third quarter who they managed to outscore, 21-20, but Prince George's pulled away again in the final frame to go up by as many as 19 at one point before closing out the 16-point victory.
Washington ended the day with 20 points to go with 6 assists, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals to finish as the Owls leading scorer. Kryslynn Stewart added 14 points and 3 steals while Nia Grymes scored 12 off the bench. Kalise Evans nearly had a double-double with 11 points and 8 rebounds while also grabbing 4 steals.
The Owls will return home for their next matchup on Friday, December 13th against Frederick Community College at 5 PM. Friday's matchup kicks off the first of three games in three days for the Owls which is be followed by a pair of games against nationally ranked opponents in Harcum College and Union College at the CCBC Essex mixer over Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
