Five Spartans Score in Double Digits as Men Register 7th Consecutive Win
The M State Men's Basketball team won for a seventh straight time to open the season when they posted a 97-61 victory over Sisseton-Wahpeton on Tuesday night. Five Spartans reached double figures with Mason Muir leading the way with 20 points. Foday Sheriff and Yonis Mohamud added 16 and 15 points, respectively. Dwayne Bryant contributed a dozen points off the bench and Javin Tindall chipped in with 10.
Tyson McArthur snagged a team high 9 rebounds and Keech Bior grabbed 6 boards. Muir led the team with 5 assists, while Sheriff and Braylon Baldwin dished out 4 assists each. Mohamud was the leader in steals with 4 and Sheriff blocked 3 shots.
M State shot 48% (36-75) from the field, made 36.1% (13-36) of their 3's and hit 70.6% (12-17) of their free throw attempts. They also held a 40-30 edge on the boards, assisted on 23 of 36 made baskets and forced 25 turnovers.
Sisseton-Wahpeton made 38% (25-66) of their field goal attempts and 31.6% (6-19) from beyond the arc.
TJ Shellman led the team with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Elijah Black Thunder scored 12 points off the bench, while Reymin Yell Earrings added 11 points and 5 assists in a reserve role.
