SUNY Orange against the undefeated Falcons of Dutchess County Community College
With this victory over the Falcons, the Colts move up three places in the NJCAA DII Rankings sitting at #20

On Thursday February 20th the SUNY Orange Colts traveled to Dutchess County Community College where they took on the undefeated Falcons having earned a record of 23 wins and 0 losses this season. This was the first meeting of the season for these two teams. The last time that Dutchess and Orange met, Feb. 14, 2023, the Colts came out on top defeating the Falcons 106-81. The Colts have defeated the Falcons in three of their last four match-ups, with the Colts winning the last two.
After the first half of play, Orange found themselves leading with the score of 36-29. With this seven point lead, the Colts began the second half of play and looked to close out the last twenty minutes of the game and secure their last regular season win against a tough opponent in Dutchess County Community College.
During the second half, Dutchess outscored the Colts by a score of 40-37, but was not enough for the Falcons to overcome their first half deficit. The Colts finished victorious, snapping the Falcons 23 game win streak and giving them their first loss of the 2024-25 season. In the second half the Colts had their troubles maintaining possession on the offensive end, resulting in costly points on the other side of the court. Thanks to some clutch free throws down the stretch by So. Guard Daniel Lans, Orange was able to secure the victory. With a final score of 73-69, the Colts secured their 24th win on the season as they now set their sights on becoming Region XV Champions.
#1 Orange will face #4 Sullivan CC on Sat. March 1st in a Region XV semifinal game. Rockland will play Westchester in the other semifinal matchup. The semifinal winners will play for the Region XV Championship on Sunday March 2. All games are hosted by Westchester CC.

In this game there were four Colt athletes who finished with 10+ points or rebounds. It was the sophomores who led the way for the Colts combining for 65 of the 73 points scored.
-So. Forward #22 Jabari Phillip led the way for the Colts in points as he finished with 22 points scored on 10 of 16 shooting. Phillip's also added eight rebounds, three assists, one steal and led the team with two blocks.
-So. Guard #1 Marquis Gill finished finished with 20 points, six rebounds and two steals.
-So. Forward Mathew Shea led the way in rebounds for the Colts. Mat finished with eight points scored and grabbed 12 rebounds, dished out two assists and recorded one block.
Saturday's game against the Generals will take place at Westchester Community College at 2:00 PM EST
