Miami Dade Dominates Motlow State with Explosive Offensive Performance
The Miami Dade College Sharks cruised to a commanding 12-2 victory over Motlow State Community College, fueled by an explosive offensive showcase and solid pitching.
The Sharks struck early, putting up three runs in the second inning behind a two-run double from Willy Mendez and a wild pitch that allowed him to cross the plate. They continued their offensive onslaught in the third, with Matt Thorsen delivering a two-run double and Mendez adding another RBI. Jovan Swasey capped off the frame with a two-run double, extending the lead to 8-0.
Miami Dade didn't let up in the fourth inning, as Mendez and Swasey each drove in runs to push the advantage to 11-0. Motlow State managed to get on the board in the bottom of the fourth, capitalizing on a pair of wild pitches and a sacrifice fly, but the damage had already been done. Santiago Carriles-Alvarado added another RBI single in the fifth to put the game fully out of reach.
Mendez led the offense, going 3-for-4 with four RBIs, while Swasey contributed two hits and four RBIs of his own. Thorsen added a pair of RBIs on a double, and Alvarado scored three times while driving in one.
On the mound, Enrique Sierra set the tone with three dominant innings, allowing just one hit and striking out four. Andy Mesa closed it out with two innings of relief, surrendering just one earned run on one hit.
With this victory, Miami Dade improves to 4-3 on the season and they look to make it 5-3 as they take on Northwest Florida later in the day.
