
ROSWELL — Issac Taveras scored a game-high 28 points Wednesday at the top-ranked South Plains College men's basketball team improved to 5-0 on the season with a 96-76 victory over Central Arizona College at the Cahoon Armory.
South Plains will be back on the road Friday and Saturday in Plano, taking on Panola at 4 p.m. on Friday, followed by a 2 p.m. contest against Angelina on Saturday. Both games will stream live at spctexans.com.
Taveras finished 13 of 17 from the floor to go along with nine boards and four assists. Arterio Morris totaled 13 points, five steals, two assists, and a pair of blocked shots while Tavaj Cope netted 12 points over 19 minutes. The Texans shot a 60 percent clip from the field and were equally effective on the defensive end, forcing Central Arizona into 24 turnovers.
