Lady Bears dominate second half enroute to the victory over SUSLA

The Baton Rouge Lady Bears faced off against the Southern Shreveport Lady Jags this afternoon in the Bonne Sante Wellness Center for an LCCAC matchup. The Lady Bears dominated the second half, outscoring the Lady Jags 58 to 20, which led to a decisive 91 to 50 victory.
The game started competitively, with both teams exchanging leads and baskets during the first quarter. The score was tied three times before the Lady Bears closed the quarter on a 12-5 run, ending the first quarter with a five-point advantage at 20-13.
In the second quarter, the teams continued to battle evenly, with two more ties. After the game was tied at 20 points, the Lady Bears went on a 9-2 run to take a 31-24 lead with two minutes left. However, the Lady Jags answered back with a 6-2 run of their own, ending the half with a close score of 33-30.
Unlike previous games, the Lady Bears came out strong in the third quarter, outscoring the Lady Jags 27 to 18. The Bear's defense was impressive, limiting the Lady Jags' possessions. Kinsley James, Frandreka Keller, and DeZarae Stewart were pivotal in leading the offense during the quarter. By the end of the third quarter, the Lady Bears held a 60-48 lead.
The fourth quarter was even more dominant for the Lady Bears as they allowed the Lady Jags to score only two points, which tied for the fewest points allowed by the Lady Bears in a quarter. The Bears outscored the Lady Jags 31 to 2 in the final quarter, sealing their 91 to 50 victory.
Kinsley James was the standout performer for the Bears, scoring a game-high 34 points. In addition to James, Shelcie LeBlanc added 12 points and 7 assists, contributing to the team's strong performance. Ikeia Brown led the Lady Jags with 11 points, with four players, including Brown, Jones, Davis, and Mitchell, scoring in double figures.
With this victory, the Lady Bears improved their record to 12-7 overall (4-2 in conference), while the Lady Jags fell to 5-13 (2-4 in conference). The all-time series now stands at 45 wins for Baton Rouge and 6 losses against Southern Shreveport.

Kinsley James led the Lady Bears with 34 points and 5 assists.
Shelcie LeBlanc added 12 points and 7 assists.
Frandreka Keller and J'nyria Kelly each scored 8 points.
The Lady Bears will continue their homestand this Wednesday, February 19, when they take on LCCAC rivals, the Delgado Lady Dolphins. The tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 PM in the Bonne Sante Wellness Center.
