The Erie men's and women's basketball teams hosted the Erie Community College Tip-Off Classic to start the their 2024-25 seasons over the weekend. In addition to the Kats, the teams from SUNY Niagara, Community College of Allegheny and Genesee Community College participated in the games played at the Burt Flickinger Center.
The Kats took on Community College of Allegheny on Saturday, losing to the Wild Cats 62-43. Leading scorer for Erie was freshman Skye Lee who had 19 points and five rebounds. She was 5-7 from the free throw line and also had two steals. Freshman Gianna Krupp had nine points and eight rebounds.
Erie was looking to bounce back on Sunday against Genesee but the Cougars prevailed 61-49. Lee and Krupp once again led the Kats with Lee scoring 22 points and six rebounds and Krupp grabbing 17 rebounds and scoring nine points.
The Kats will travel to Michigan to play at Glen Oaks Community College, taking on Edison State on Friday and Wabash Valley College on Saturday.
