
The 2025 FMCC Raiders baseball team took the field on Saturday for the first time this season. They hosted the Hudson Valley Vikings in a doubleheader at Shuttleworth Park. The talented Vikings entered the doubleheader with 10 games already under their belt.
The Vikings jumped out to a four-run lead in the top of the first inning off two hits and a walk. They extended their early lead with four runs in the top of the third inning.
Yejune Lee and Brendan O'Connell were a force together in the Raider line-up, as they each collected one hit. Po Ting Lin got the start on the mound, he went three and two-thirds innings, surrendering 11 runs (nine earned) on 13 hits, striking out four and walking four. KJ Constantino came in in relief surrendering just one hit and no runs.
In game two, the Raiders bounced back and held the Vikings scoreless over the first three innings. HVCC scored two runs in the top of the 4th and two more over the next two innings to take a 4-0 lead.
FM was able to answer with two runs in the 6th. Lee and O'Connell both worked walks and Tyler Safran drilled a double to the fence scoring both runners. Vikings responded in the top of the 7th with three more runs and the Raiders tallied a final run in the bottom half on a wild pitch.
Safran had a big day at the plate going 2-2, with a double, 2 RBI's and a walk. Yejune Lee was 2-2 with a run scored. Connor Bentley and Patrick Vidulich each scored for FM.
Cheng En Cai had a strong showing on the hill for FM. The starter went six innings, allowing seven runs (four earned) on five hits, striking out six and walking seven. KJ Constantino came in for relief once again, allowing no runs and striking out one.
The Raiders are back in action on Tuesday, March 25th when they travel to Hudson Valley Community College in Troy for a doubleheader. The games are set for 2pm and 4pm.
