NIACC stops Madison College, 86-68
MADISON, Wis. - Keeley Steele scored 21 points and Karly Holm scored 20 points to lead the NIACC women's basketball team to a 86-68 non-conference victory over Madison College Saturday afternoon.
It was the fourth time this season that the Trojans had two players score at least 20 points in a game. It was the fourth time this season that Steele has scored at least 20 points in a contest.
Steele was 8 of 19 from the field, including five 3-point goals. Steele also had six assists, five steals and three rebounds.
Holm's 20 points was a career high. Holm also had four rebounds, four assists and two steals.
Also for the Trojans on Saturday, Tori Miller scored 17 points, Reggi Spotts scored 12 points and Tayler Helgemoe scored 11 points.
Miller also collected six rebounds and dished out four assists. Spotts had seven rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Miller moved into seventh place on NIACC's career assist list with 224. She past Sarah Dvorak, (1991-93), who is now eighth with 221 career assists.
Helgemoe had seven rebounds and four assists.
In Saturday's game, the Trojans trailed 25-22 after the first quarter but outscored Madison College 29-22 in the second quarter. The Trojans also outscored Madison College 22-12 in the third quarter to take control of the contest.
NIACc held Madison College to 21 points in the second half.
NIACC (18-6 overall) returns to action Wednesday in an ICCAC contest at Iowa Western.
