November 5, 2024 - The Kishwaukee College Mens Basketball team opened up the regular season at home on Tuesday night in Malta under new head coach Matt Long and his staff. Early jitters allowed JJC to get out to a 12 point lead early and a 34-24 haltime defecit for Kish. But the energy and persistance picked up in the second half with the Kougars drawing to 1 point, late in the second half on a basket at the 4:00 mark. However, Joliet would be more careful handling the ball and held on to the 77-69 win. Brayden Johnson (Broken Arrow-OK HS) led the way for the Kougars with teammate Braxton Highbaugh adding 13 points. Kish teammate Alan Eades (Proviso East HS) contributed 11 points as well as Quenton Edmonds-Long (Cowan-IN HS) with 7 points, Connor Brown (Cerro Gordo HS) with 4 blocks and 5 points and Mekhi Lunford (Plainfield Central HS) with 5 points and 4 rebounds. Elijah Luxton (Rochelle HS), Arquis Yancey (Joliet West HS), Keaudre Cooper (Smith Station HS), Javion Brewer (Richwoods HS) and Aaron Gant (Joliet West HS) also marked on the scoresheet for the Kougars.
Kishwaukee (0-1 overall) travel to take on Illinois Central College on Friday night
