
(March 11, 2025) Mena, Arkansas - After 5-3 win against Carl Albert to start their week, the Bucks wanted to keep it going against Region 2 East Division foe SAU Tech on Tuesday afternoon at Union Bank Field. The Bucks and Rockets were region opponents last season with UARM taking five out of six games from SAU Tech.
SAU Tech jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning, but the Bucks answered with 10 runs in the bottom half of the inning and cruised to a 13-3 win in seven innings. Trapper Golden (Hughes Springs, TX) got the start for the Bucks and lasted 4.0 innings, giving up 2 runs on 3 hits. Golden (1-0) would strike out 3 in his first win of the season on the mound.
Offensively, the Bucks had 10 hits on the day led by Diego Archila (Baton Rouge, LA) with 3 hits and 2 RBIs. Yancey Steady (Baton Rouge, LA) and Layne Sweat (Darby, KS) both had a pair hits and 2 RBIs on the day. Steady did his damage on one swing that kicked off the Bucks scoring in the bottom of the second inning. Ian Smith (Bismarck, AR) recorded 3 RBIs on 1 hit. Gage Mullins (McAlester, OK), Shelby Anders (Baton Rouge, LA), and Ethan Miller (Hallsville, TX) each recorded a RBI. Miller walked it off for the Bucks in the bottom of the seventh inning.
On the mound, the Bucks used five pitchers on the day, giving up 3 runs (2 earned) on 6 hits.
The men are back in action tomorrow afternoon at 1 pm against North Iowa Area Community College. NIACC is on a road trip to Eunice, LA for a weekend series.
