Softball Earns Another Sweep at Home

GAME ONE: HVCC 11 - SUNY ADIRONDACK 0
Reegan Mullen drove in four runs on one hit to lead the Vikings past SUNY Adirondack 11-0 on Tuesday at home. Mullen hit a home run to left field in the first inning, scoring three runs, and walked in the second inning, scoring one.
The Vikings won thanks in part to six runs in the second inning. Samantha Graham singled, scoring two runs, Mullen drew a walk, scoring one run, Lily Brennan singled, scoring two runs, and an error scored one run. The Vikings jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Maeve Brannigan singled, scoring one run, and Mullen homered to left field, scoring three runs.
Moira Collins stepped in the circle first for the Vikings. The hurler surrendered two hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out eight and walking one.
Brannigan, Angelise Montanez, and Graham each collected two hits for the Vikings. The Vikings had patience at the plate, amassing five walks for the game. The Vikings turned one double play in the game. The Vikings didn't commit a single error in the field. Graham had the most chances in the field with eight.
GAME TWO: HVCC 9 - SUNY ADIRONDACK 3
The Vikings easily dispatched SUNY Adirondack on Tuesday, 9-3. A home run to center field by Maeve Brannigan put the Vikings on the board in the top of the first.
Adirondack tied the game in the bottom of the first and a single gave Adirondack the lead, 3-2, in the bottom of the third. The Vikings jumped into the lead in the top of the fourth when Brannigan doubled, scoring one run, Lily Brennan singled, scoring one run, and a wild pitch scored two runs.
Moira Collins pitched four innings in relief for the Vikings. The hurler allowed six hits and zero runs while, striking out three and walking three. Reegan Mullen started the game for the Vikings. The pitcher surrendered four hits and three runs (two earned) over three innings, striking out four and walking three.
Brannigan drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Vikings with three runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Brannigan and Samantha Graham were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for the Vikings while hitting back-to-back. The Vikings turned one double play in the game.
The Vikings will travel to Mohawk Valley for their next game on Friday at 3pm and 5pm.
