Seahawks Sweep Opening Weekend

BALTIMORE - The Cecil College men's basketball team earned its first two wins of the 2024 campaign, defeating both Bryant & Stratton (Virginia) and Johnston as a part of the CCBC-Dundalk Mixer.

Cecil 76, Bryant & Stratton 71 - Box Score

Jaiden Guy recorded his first double-double of the season, pairing a career high 33 points with 10 rebounds to lead the Seahawks to an opening night victory.

Cecil struggled from distance in the contest, making just three of its 18 shots from three. They made up for it at the free throw line (19-for-25) and in the paint.

Carlito McBryde led the Seahawks on the boards, pulling down 11. Cecil managed to outrebound the Bobcats 47-34.

Cecil 79, Johnston 60 - Box Score

The Seahawks used a more balanced offensive approach to take down Johnston on Sunday afternoon. Four Cecil starters finished in double figures, led once again by Guy. The sophomore guard finished with 16 points and 14 rebounds for his second double-double of the year. Guy also led the defense with seven steals.

Cecil led by 11 heading into the break and never looked back. The Seahawks outscored Johnston by nine in the second half to keep the game well out of reach.

Javon Jenkins slotted in just behind Guy with 15 points on the day. Corey Palmer and Jermaine Goodwyn chipped in 14 and 12 points respectively. Shaun Chandler came off the bench to led the team in assists (six) while also pouring in a half-dozen points.

The Seahawks head back out on the road to Monroe CC next weekend, facing the hosts on Saturday before playing Jamestown on Sunday.
