FAIRFIELD, Ill. - The NIACC baseball team opened its season with a pair of losses Friday against Frontier CC.
Frontier CC won the first game 11-9 and took the second game 2-1.
In the first game, Frontier CC scored eight runs in the third inning. The Bobcats also scored two runs in the third inning and a single run in the eighth inning.
The Trojans scored one run in the first inning, four runs in the second inning, one run in sixth inning and plated three runs in the ninth frame.
The Trojans' Tommy Lyman and Minchan Kim both collected two hits in the opener. Cody Haynes drove in three runs for the Trojans.
The Trojans received doubles from Lyman, Kim, George McIntyre and Payton Fort and a home run from Lincoln Becker.
In the second game, the Bobcats pushed across single runs in the first and fourth innings. The Trojans scored its lone run in the first inniing.
The Bobcats held the Trojans to three hits in the seocnd game - a double from Fort and singles from Haynes and Jack McDonough.
NIACC's Ethan Loffer, Jacob Crissinger and Caden Watson combined to hold the Bobcats to two runs and two hits.
NIACC returns to action next weekend in a three-game series against Three Rivers CC in Poplar Bluff, Mo. The two teams play a doubleheader on Feb. 15 and a single game on Feb. 16.
