Jayhawks Protect the Nest in Victory Over Vikings

JAMESTOWN, NY - The outcome was never in doubt as the Jamestown Community College (JCC) women's basketball team topped four-year school Villa Maria, 95-55, at home Tuesday night.

Jamestown jumped out to a 16-2 advantage, capped by a fastbreak layup by Kendra Altadonna, assisted by Jennica Berens who had nine helpers on the day. Altadonna scored 14 in the win.

Villa would get the deficit down to seven in the second, 20-13, before JCC went on another run.

They doubled up the Vikings, 32-16, with three minutes left in the half on an Alyson Canfield putback.

The local product poured in 18, rewarding Coach Turnbull for putting her in the starting lineup. JCC took a 42-18 lead to the break.

JCC's edge would balloon over 30 early in the third off of five-straight points from Andrea Johnson, who scored 13 off the bench.

The Jayhawks were never threatened in this one, winning by forty to improve to 8-2 on the season.

Jamestown hits the holiday break on a four-game winning streak.

They return to action on Saturday, January 4th, at 1:00 PM when they host Sheridan College.
