Herkimer Lacrosse Stays Unbeaten with 13-9 Victory Over Anne Arundel

The Herkimer Generals Men's Lacrosse team improved to 4-0 on the season with a come-from-behind 13-9 win over Anne Arundel Community College.

In a game that remained close through three quarters, the Generals pulled away with a dominant fourth quarter, shutting out the Riverhawks while scoring six unanswered goals to secure the victory.

The game started as a back-and-forth battle, with Anne Arundel taking an early 3-2 lead after the first quarter. Chris Rose and Ryan Hoyt both scored power-play goals for Herkimer, but the Riverhawks answered each time, capitalizing on early opportunities. The second quarter followed a similar pattern, as Anne Arundel maintained a 6-4 advantage at halftime despite goals from Eric Attleson and Casey Ryan for the Generals.

Herkimer started to shift momentum in the third quarter, outscoring Anne Arundel 3-3 thanks to goals from Jordan Fox, Eric Attleson, and Alek Murrietta. However, the Riverhawks continued to answer, and heading into the final quarter, the Generals found themselves in a tight 9-7 contest.

That's when Herkimer's offense and defense took over. The Generals erupted for six unanswered goals in the fourth quarter, with Chris Rose, Lukas Quinn, and Ryan Hoyt each finding the back of the net. Eric Attleson added another insurance goal, while the defense shut down Anne Arundel's attack completely. Herkimer controlled possession, winning ground ball battles 48-30 and forcing 40 turnovers to secure the win.

Herkimer outshot Anne Arundel 50-34 and converted on 3-of-8 man-up opportunities while holding the Riverhawks to just 2-of-8 on extra-man chances. Despite some struggles at the faceoff circle, the Generals' strong defensive play and fourth-quarter surge proved to be the difference.

With the win, Herkimer moves to 4-0 and now faces its toughest test yet—a road matchup against CCBC Essex, one of the top teams in the NJCAA. The Generals will look to continue their unbeaten streak in what promises to be a crucial early-season showdown.
