Baseball starts scoring early in 11-0 win over Community Christian to open three-game series

YUMA, Ariz., - The Arizona Western Matadors Baseball team (16-5, 8-5) won its fourth consecutive game, beating Community Christian (0-16, 0-16) 11-0 in five innings in the opener of a three-game series on Friday afternoon at Walt Kammann Baseball Field.

Lukas Pacal tossed a complete-game shutout, allowing just four hits and striking six batters without issuing a walk in five innings of work to earn the win.

The Matadors scored four runs in the first inning, highlighted by a three-run homer off the bat of Andres Ontiveros to open the scoring.

Arizona Western added five more runs in the second inning and capped off the scoring with two more runs in the fourth.

Bronson Neave went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two runs batted in, and Dan Kawanishi also drove in a pair of runs, going 2-for-3 with a double.

Javier Diaz had two doubles, finishing the game 2-for-,3 and Nathan Houston and Victor Lopez each put together two-hit games in the win.

The Matadors and the Saints wrap up the series on Saturday, March 1, playing a doubleheader beginning at Noon at Walt Kammann Baseball Field.
