Colts move to 3-0 after defeating the Bobcats of Bryant & Stratton
At the start of this game the Bobcats were the first to put points on the board the Colts would soon answer quickly coming from Jabari Phillip for the lay in. This first half was unlike the Colts as they found themselves trailing with under 8 minutes left in the first half until a Marquis Gill three pointer to tie the score at 22-22 followed by a Marco Evans layup for the lead. In the beginning of the first half neither team was able to gain a commanding lead over the other and as we approach the end of the first half the Colts lead 34-32 with just 1:10 left in the half. With Daniel Lans scoring 1/2 from the free throw line, the first half comes to a close with a score of 35-32.
To open the second half the Colt came out of the locker room ready to go and they showed it out scoring the Bobcats 14 - 2 after just five minutes of play and after just six minutes of play the Colts found themselves with a 20 point advantage over Bryant & Stratton. The Colts opened the second half with relentless pressure on defense while being aggressive on the offensive end and scoring the ball when shots became open. With the first timeout taken by the Bobcats with just 9:27 left in the game the Colts had a 28 point lead by a score of 72-44 and would soon earn their largest lead of the game with about 6 minutes left the Colts were leading 77-44 leading by 33 points.
The Colts would end up defeating the Bobcats 84-59 as the Colts move on to a 3-0 record. They will look ahead to their region opponent in the Generals of Sullivan County Community College, the two teams face off on Thursday November 14th for a 7:00 start @ Sullivan County Community College. This is the first game the Colts will be playing where they are not the home team and will look to have the same success.
Making their third appearance as the teams leading scorers Sophomores Daniel Lans, Jabari Phillip and Mat Shea finished the game with 15+ points.
So. Guard Mat Shea finished with his second game in a row finishing with a double-double. Recording 19 points on 7/13 while shooting 2-4 from behind the three point arc. Shea had a star studded night as he tallied on three assists, four steals and two blocks.
So. Forward Jabari Phillip finished with his third consecutive game recording 10+ points. Finishing with 19 points he finished (tied with teammate Mat Shea) on 8-11 shooting, Jabari also came down with eight rebounds and dished out two assists
So. Guard Daniel Lans finished with 17 points scored while missing just one shot going 7/8 from the field and 3/4 from the free throw line. Lans also added three rebounds and led the way for the Colts with six assists.
