Game 1
Anne Arundel Community College
Catonsville, MD- In the battle of the birds, the Cardinals and Riverhawks split in the Tuesday doubleheader.
Game 1
The CCBC Catonsville Cardinals put on an offensive showcase in their dominant 12-3 victory over Anne Arundel Community College (AACC). Powered by home runs from Nelson Grajales and A.J. Perry, the Cardinals' bats came alive to secure the win.
Explosive Offensive Performance
Jaedan Kelley led the charge, going 3-for-3 at the plate with four runs scored and an RBI. Grajales was a force, driving in four runs while going 2-for-3, including a home run. Perry also made his mark with a home run of his own, finishing with two RBIs.
Lyonel Barthelemy added to the offensive production, scoring once and driving in a run, while Sebastian Guzman contributed an RBI double. The Cardinals took advantage of their opportunities, showing patience at the plate with six walks while never striking out.
Pitching and Defense Hold Strong
While the offense stole the show, the Cardinals' pitching staff kept AACC in check. Colby Vallee and the rest of the staff limited the opposing offense, preventing any significant rally from the Riverhawks. Vallee threw 5.1 strong innings. Solid defense backed up the strong pitching, keeping the game firmly in Catonsville's control.
Game 2
The CCBC Catonsville Cardinals came up just short in a tightly contested battle against Anne Arundel Community College (AACC), falling 4-2. Despite solid pitching and a few timely hits, the Cardinals couldn't generate enough offense to secure the win.
Offensive Struggles Hold Cardinals Back
CCBC Catonsville managed just four hits in the game, with Jaedan Kelley and Sebastian Guzman each recording a double. A.J. Perry was responsible for both of the team's RBIs, drawing a walk and making the most of his opportunities at the plate. However, the Cardinals left key runners on base, unable to capitalize on scoring chances.
Solid Pitching Effort Goes to Waste
On the mound, the Cardinals' pitching staff kept the game close, limiting AACC's offense to just four runs. The defense contributed with a well-executed double play involving Guzman, A.J. Palumbo, and Nelson Grajales. However, a few costly errors, including ones by Kelley and Perry, gave the Riverhawks extra opportunities that they took advantage of.
Looking Ahead
Despite the loss, CCBC Catonsville showed resilience, keeping the game competitive. They'll look to sharpen their offensive execution and clean up defensive mistakes as they prepare for their next matchup against Westmoreland.
