Riposo, Cecil Walk-Off Hawks
NORTH EAST - Cecil College baseball claimed its first extra-innings win of the year, taking down Southern Maryland (CSM) 7-6 in eight innings.
Both Cecil and CSM's starters went six innings, looking strong early before ceeding runs in later stages of game. The majority of the action on offense took place in the middle innings. CSM picked up one run in the fourth before driving in five in the fifth. Cecil scored five over the same stretch, then tied the contest in sixth after Brendan Aiken's sac fly scored Franco Riposo.
Colin Brosh took the mound for the seventh, stranding a CSM baserunner at third with a strikeout for out three. Cecil did not capitilze in the bottom of the seventh, sending the game into extra innings. Brosh (2-1) stepped up again slammed the door on the Hawks in the eighth to give the Seahawks another chance. Riposo stepped up and battled through a twelve pitch at-bat before sending pitch 13 over the left field wall to end the game.
Cecil bumps up to 7-3 on the season with the victory.
