The top ranked Kirkwood women's basketball team kicked off their 2024-25 season Friday afternoon with an impressive 81-45 victory over Rend Lake (IL) at the State Fair Classic in Sedalia, MO.
The Eagles wasted little time putting things in high gear on both ends of the court, as they jumped out to a 26-1 lead over the first 5:01 of the game.
Kirkwood (1-0) would shoot 50% from the floor in the first half (20-40) to take a commanding 51-20 lead into the locker room at halftime.
The Eagles kept their defensive intensity up in the second half with the game already decided and cruised to the 81-45 victory.
Sophomore Ella Pritchard led the Eagles in scoring with 18 points. Kayiah Sain added 15 points and Lizzy Puot also finished in double figures with 12 points.
Kirkwood's ball control was on point in their opening game, as they dished out 18 assists and only committed three turnovers.
The Eagles will be back in action tomorrow when they face off vs. Triton College (IL) at 1:00 pm.
