Garcia's Season-High 26 Points Lifts Tribs Over DI Mustangs
NEW ROCHELLE, NY - In an exciting face-off between New York rivals, Monroe Community College (MCC) emerged victorious against Monroe University with a final score of 82-77.
The match started with a tight first half, ending with MCC leading by just two points (36-34). The players from both sides displayed tenacity, with MCC's Alan Garcia leading the charge.
Garcia had an outstanding game, scoring 26 points, shooting 50% from the field, and securing eight free throws, including a perfect performance at the line.
As the second half unfolded, MCC extended their lead to 10 points at 82-72 with just a minute left in the contest. Monroe University made a late push, but fell short despite their efforts.
Jordan Sanders and Ryan Williams Jr. both scored 20 points for Monroe University, with Williams showcasing his prowess at the free-throw line, and nailing 12 of 16 attempts.
Key performances by MCC also included Denarius McCurty, who contributed 18 points, and Jaheem Tyson, who added a solid 10 points and seven rebounds.
The team's overall shooting was impressive, connecting on 52.6% of their attempts.
For the Tribunes they picked up their 15th win of the season and a huge win over the DI Mustangs who are receiving votes in the NJCAA DI Rankings.
