The Eastern Florida State College softball team was swept in a Citrus Conference doubleheader on the road Wednesday.
The Titans could not solve Pioneers starting pitcher J'dah Girgorie who pitched 12 of the 14 innings Wednesday in a conference doubleheader sweep. The third-ranked Pioneers won the first game 5-0 and then won the second game 4-0.
In the first game Alanna O'Brien got the start for the Titans and allowed a run in the first inning and then kept the Pioneers off the scoreboard for three straight innings but Indian River scored four times in the fifth inning. It was the only inning that O'Brien struggled as the sophomore had her best outing of the season in the loss.
Madison Velazquez went 3-for-3 in the first game.
In Game 2, it was a showdown between Avery Velazquez and Girgorie who came back as the starter.
Once again Indian River State College would score in the first inning, but it would be the only run until the fourth inning when the Pioneers would score three times to take a 4-0 lead.
No. 19 Eastern Florida State College will return home for a matchup with No. 1 Florida Southwestern State College on Saturday afternoon. The conference doubleheader will begin at 1 p.m. at Titan Softball Complex. Admission is free and fans can also watch the game on EFSC Titans YouTube page.
