Toms River, NJ - OCC Soccer sophomore (and current GSAC Player of the Week) Jayson Nardone scored his 12th and 13th goals of the season on Saturday (10/26) to lead the Vikings past Brookdale CC, 3-2, and into the Region 19 Championship semifinal round.
The Vikings controlled the Jersey Blues from the outset, with Ocean freshman Julian Marfino opening up scoring in the 29th minute with his 5th goal of the season, assisted by center back Owen Elliott. Nardone would then add to the lead (assisted by Marfino) in the 39th min. Jayson would go on to convert his second goal just after halftime in the 49th min, after being taken down in the box, confidently slotting home his penalty kick.
Ocean sophomore goaltender Brett Leschinski earned his 6th win in a row in another solid performance between the posts, making 6 saves over 90 minutes.
The Vikings next take on the Sussex CC Skylanders in Newtown on Tuesday, October 29 at 1:30 P.M. in the Region 19 Championship semifinal.
