NORTH EAST - Cecil College baseball fell twice to the Garrett Lakers at home on Thursday afternoon.
The Seahawks are now 8-7 on the season.
Game One - Garrett 7, Cecil 5
Garrett utilized a five-run fifth to grab the lead, then held on to take the opening contest against Cecil.
Trailing 7-5 in the final innning, the Seahawks put a charge into their comeback chances. Chris Woods started the inning off with a double and Tyler Burger followed him with a walk. A wild pitch put Burger on second, but a base running miscue saw Woods called out retreating back to the same base. Cecil's next two batters went down in order to end the game.
Five Seahawks recorded one double each and four grabbed one RBI. Asher Friedman led the Seahawks with two hits.
Colin Brosh (2-1) was stuck with the loss from the hill. The sophomore struck out seven over four innings of work.
Game Two - Garrett 11, Cecil 3
While Cecil's offense sputtered in the second game, the Lakers scored in every inning but the third for a convincing sweep.
The Seahawks offense finally woke up in the middle innings. Asher Friedman's sacrifice fly scored Cecil's first run of the game in the fourth. Hunter Sipel's two-run blast in the fifth put the Seahawks within three runs, but Cecil was kept off the board thereafter.
From the mound, Cecil's pitching staff gave up a season high 16 hits. Chris Woods (0-2) was handed the loss on the mound. John Smith led the Seahawks bullpen with three strikeouts.
