Herkimer Men’s Lacrosse Dominates Season Opener with 28-1 Victory Over Finger Lakes

The Herkimer Generals Men's Lacrosse team started its 2025 season with an emphatic statement, defeating Finger Lakes Community College 28-1. The Generals wasted no time establishing their dominance, scoring nine goals in the first quarter and never looking back.

Freshman attackman Ryan Hoyt led the offensive onslaught, netting five goals in his first career game, including an unassisted tally just 45 seconds into the game. Sophomores Lukas Quinn and Brodie Davis also had standout performances, each recording multiple goals and assists. Herkimer's offense was firing on all cylinders, with contributions from a deep roster of scorers, including Connor Flo, Alek Murrietta, Casey Ryan, and Owen Pierce.

The Generals continued their relentless pace in the second quarter, adding 11 more goals while keeping the Lakers off the scoreboard. By halftime, the game was all but decided, as Herkimer held a commanding 20-0 lead. Finger Lakes managed to break through in the third quarter with a lone goal from Philip Love, assisted by Matthew Brown, but it was merely a consolation as the Generals tacked on four more in the third and four more in the fourth to round out the scoring.

Herkimer's defense was just as impressive as its offense, smothering the Lakers' attack and allowing just one goal throughout the contest. The Generals' goaltending and defensive unit kept Finger Lakes from gaining any momentum, forcing turnovers and capitalizing on transition opportunities.

With the win, Herkimer College opens the season at 1-0 and looks ahead to building on this dominant performance in their next matchup against Mohawk Valley CC on Wednesday at 4:00 PM!
