Highlanders run-rule Ranger twice
McLennan Softball continued conference play with two run-rule wins over the Ranger Lady Rangers
The Highlanders picked up the 8-0 victory in six innings of game one with Kyneli Chapman in the circle.
McLennan scored one in the first as Tehya Pitts reached on an error, stole second and scored on a single by MJ Nicholson.
The Highlanders added five runs in the fourth. Macie Jansky doubled and scored on Ally Thompson's home run. Pitts singled and scored on Mickayla Tosch's triple. Trinity Allen followed with a two-run homer.
Another McLennan run scored in the fifth. Aynsli Lawson walked and stole second. Jansky singled, and Lawson scored on a sac fly by Thompson.
Nicholson's walk-off solo home run in the sixth ended the game.
Game two was a 13-2 five inning victory for McLennan with Landrie Harris picking up the win.
McLennan took control early scoring seven in the bottom of the first. Pitts singled and Tosch walked, both scoring on a double by Allen. Allen advanced on a line out by Nicholson and scored on sac fly by Lilli Piersons. Madison Levsey singled and Thompson was hit by the pitch. Alyssa Moreno singled to score Levsey, and Thompson scored on a double by Madison Garcia. Pitts then doubled to score Moreno and Garcia.
The Highlanders tacked on two more in the second. Allen led off with a solo home run. Piersons then doubled and scored on a triple by Thompson.
Three McLennan runs scored in the third. Tosch tripled and scored on Allen's home run. Nicholson then doubled and scored on a double by Piersons.
Ranger's two runs came in the top of the fourth. Amelia Meece and Alyssa Meza both singled, and Erica Baker reached on an error, loading the bases. Emily Olivarez and Amy Rodriguez both walked, brining Meece and Meza in to score.
The final Highlander run came in the bottom of the fourth. Moreno singled and Delanie Roeder walked. Natalie Klenda then lined out, scoring Moreno.
