
TWIN FALLS, ID — The top-ranked South Plains College men's basketball team outlasted North Idaho 103-102 in overtime Thursday at the Title One Invitational at the College of Southern Idaho.
Arterio Morris led South Plains with 23 points, seven steals, six rebounds, and five assists over 32 minutes, connecting on eight of 20 shots from the field. Tavaj Cope poured in 19 points on eight of 11 shooting, while Jalen Ricks totaled 18 points and six boards, chipping in six of 14 attempts from the field. Caleb Blackwell finished with 11 points and a game-high nine assists as the Texans shot 47.5 percent from the floor and 40 percent from distance.
North Idaho's Dace Pleasant led all scorers with 27 points and six rebounds in 31 minutes, while Vaughn Weems netted 22 points, six rebounds and four assists. North Idaho shot 42.6 percent from the field and was 32-40 from the free throw line.
The Texans advance to the semifinal round of the Title One Invitational and will take on Monroe on Friday at 6 p.m. CST.
