Men’s Basketball Obliterates Labette in Conference Opener

The Kansas City Kansas Community College men's basketball team dominated the Labette Community College Cardinals, 98-51 Jan. 11 at Labette Community College in Parsons, Kan. The Blue Devils started out the game hot and led the Cardinals with a score of 52-14 at halftime.

Pierce Ross went back-to-back games shooting 8-12 from the floor and finished with a team-high 18 points, six rebounds and one steal. BJ Stewart was right behind him as he shot 6-10 from the floor recording 16 points while bringing down a team-high eight rebounds. Ta'Veaion Washington recorded a career-high 15 points while shooting a perfect 7-7 from the free throw line and 4-8 from the field. Jeremiah Lewis came off the bench and scored 10 points while nailing two three pointers, and Camron Williford led the team with six assists and one steal. O'shawn Jones-Winslow was a liability on the defensive end as he brought down six rebounds and recorded all three of the blocks that the Blue Devils had.

For the game, the Blue Devils shot 38-70 from the field (54.3%), 6-15 from three-point range (40%) and 16-18 from the free-throw line (88.9%). The Cardinals shot 17-56 from the field (30.4%), 3-13 from three-point range (23.1%) and 14-22 from the free-throw line (63.6%).

The next game for the Blue Devils is against Johnson County Community College at 7:30 p.m. Jan.15 at Metropolitan Community College – Penn Valley in Kansas City, Mo.
