Tuesday afternoon, The Marian University Ancilla Baseball team hosted Lake Michigan College in their first Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) game of the season. While the Chargers were able to string together 13 hits and 5 runs throughout the 9-inning affair, they allowed 9 early runs and were unable to recover, falling 11-5 to the Red Hawks.
Freshman outfielder Isaak Osborne singled twice and drove in a pair of runs for MUAC, as did Freshman 1st baseman Wes McNeff. Freshman designated hitter Aiden Marcus was able to reach safely 4 times, hitting 3 singles and reaching via a walk. Sophomore outfielder John Morgan and Freshman catcher Nolan Pizzo showed a little pop, each reaching by a double.
Freshman starting pitcher Kaleb Short (1-2) took the loss in this one, but Redshirt Freshman Nico Galea pitched 2 scoreless innings, not allowing a hit. Freshman Dylan Ford also pitched 2 innings in relief, allowing just a single earned run.
Please come out and support the Chargers this weekend, as they are set to host Glen Oaks on Saturday in another MCCAA matchup. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., though that could be moved back an hour or two to give the field time to dry out from anticipated rain Friday night. Go Chargers!!
